THE FUTURE’s bright, the future’s green for ICP Networks after the opening of the most eco-friendly IT headquarters in Britain.
MP David Rutley officially unveiled the £1 million global headquarters and immediately heralded their move as a shining example to other UK businesses.
ICP Networks buy and sell networking equipment around the world including Cisco System switches and routers and leading manufacturers Avaya, HP and Juniper.
The industry, worth more than $5 billion-a-year, is not necessarily known for it’s green credentials – yet ICP Networks were determined to break the mould.
Their new head office is more than carbon neutral thanks to the largest installation of solar panels in the North West – a system that provides TWICE the energy they require allow the surplus to be sold back to the national grid.
Mr Rutley, MP, said: “ICP Networks are a great example of how businesses can operate successfully and help the environment.
“The company offers a wide range of products and services, and the work it does in refurbishing equipment makes clear economic and environmental sense. I would like to wish ICP every success for the future.
“I am delighted that ICP Networks has chosen to invest in its new premises here in Poynton – another vote of confidence in the village!”
Having outgrown their former base in Wilmslow – home to footballers, WAGs and soap stars – ICP Networks have created a purpose built 16,500 sq. ft unit in nearby Poynton, in Cheshire.
The headquarters has been transformed in just months from an empty warehouse into a modern, eco-friendly high tech office block with warehousing.
A 50kWp solar panelled system has been installed across the roof span, walls have been double insulated and new light sensors installed – a move in itself which will save 90% of energy used previously.
Proud Managing Director Matt Archer, said: “We are incredibly excited about our new headquarters and the possibility it brings, especially coming on the back of a successful first decade.
“We are especially proud of our green credentials. We take our commitment to the environment extremely seriously and constantly strive to find new ways of reducing our impact on the planet.
“It isn’t just a gimmick, it actually makes great business sense. We are able to do the right thing in that the solar panels system for example will save 22 tonnes of Co2 a year – the equivalent to 76,127 air miles. Yet the additional energy also generates an additional income proving that in the long term, saving the environment also makes for very good business.
“I’m so proud of our three inverters, which each generate 17,000 watts, and the solar panelled system in general that I’ve position my desk right next to it, so I can watch the sun literally produce the energy we need.”
The move marks the beginning of an exciting new decade for ICP Networks as they seek to expand their share of a global market that is itself expanding at a rapid rate.
For ten years ICP Networks have supplied companies in more than 40 countries in the world, including a variety of blue-chip financial institutions, educational establishments and manufacturing organisations with a variety of networking equipment.
ICP Networks supply Cisco, Avaya, HP, Checkpoint and some of the world’s leading lines in networking equipment, carrying more than 12,000 items of stock at any one time.
Mr Archer, added: “We are very proud of what we have achieved and the fact that the majority of our customers and suppliers have been with us since day one says more about our business than I ever could. We pride ourselves on our customer service and high quality and we look forward to a new decade.”
“All items are available for immediate dispatch worldwide with same day delivery services available in mainland UK destinations and next business delivery services available to all European locations thanks to the our use of all principal logistics providers.
“We believe the new headquarters will enable to us to grow from strength to strength, increase our share of the global market and all the time ensure our impact on the environment is kept to an absolute minimum.”
As part of the move to the new headquarters ICP Networks have unveiled a rebranded logo, modern new website and branded feel befitting of their status as one of the UK’s most important networking equipment suppliers.
ICP Networks boast a client list that includes the likes of Samsung, BT, Shell, Siemens, IBM and British Airways.
