ICP Networks were proud to support Manchester City’s CITC Golf Day.
The South Manchester based IT giants are joining forces with the former Premiership champions on a number of exciting community projects – which will be announced soon.
But before the real work begins ICP Networks were delighted to join CITC’s ‘Blues on the Green’ charity golf day.
World Cup winner and current Manchester City EDS Manager Patrick Vieria supported the day, joining forces with City legends Mike Summerbee, Franny Lee, Tommy Booth, Gary Owen and Joe Corrigan.
Business, including the likes of Barclay’s and the Professional Footballers Association, supported the event, which raises funds for City in the Community projects, which make a huge impact on the lives of people across the Manchester area.
Proud to Support
ICP Networks Managing Director Matt Archer, said: “It was a fantastic event and we were very proud to support it, especially given this was the first event of it’s kind for the CITC team.
“There are lots of business golf days, corporate events and the like but this was an event not just for business sake, it is an opportunity for like minded people to provide financial support to a really worth while project . . . all whilst having a great time and a day out in the fresh air.
“Fresh air seemed to be the order of the day from some of the shots I witnessed from the safety of my golf buggy! If it wasn’t my recent shoulder operation I would clearly have given a few lessons for free….honest!
“In all seriousness, it was a fantastic event, incredibly well supported and it was an honour to take our place alongside such hugely respected business and more importantly, a number of genuine legends.”
Businesses were invited to enter a four ball at the ‘Blues on the Green’ event, hosted by the fabulous Mottram Hall golf course near Wilmslow. Teams could either opt to play with a legend or bring their own team, with a variety of prizes on offer for Longest Drive, Nearest The Pin, a Hole In One and the coveted first ever ‘Blues on the Green’ trophy for the winning team.
Rolls Royce
The event was supported by Rolls Royce of Manchester who not only participated in the event but supplied a Ryder Cup style leader board and an amazing selection of vehicles for the golfers to marvel out – as if it wasn’t hard enough to concentrate on the most important drive of the day….namely off the first.
The irrepressible Gary Owen was on hand to provide a running commentary, regardless of where golfers were on the course and the day itself was marshalled superbly with a three course meal and Q&A session with Patrick Vieria, Mike Summerbee and Franny Lee.
CITC ran a hugely successful auction that raised a substantial donation to the CITC charity, with the star attraction of the night – one of the four corner flags signed by the goalscorers from Manchester City’s incredible Premiership winning squad that defeated QPR to take the title, with all hope seemingly lost, and the Blues captain Vincent Kompant, being sold at auction for £2,000.
The winning bidder, after a round of intense bidding, was ICP Networks, and the prized possession could not have been sold for a better cause than the children, the projects supported by the CITC Community project scheme.
ICP Networks MD Matt Archer added: “It was a great day day and the auction was a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for the CITC project and let’s face it, there was an opportunity to own a part of footballing history and we were delighted to secure the winning bid.
“It is a truly special way to remember an incredible achievement that was truly well deserved and I am delighted that we were successful despite some pretty fierce opposition. It was a fitting end to a fabulous day and evening that followed.”
ICP Networks are proud to have secured the last of the four corner flags from that incredible day that City secured the Premiership title against QPR. It will be given pride of place.
