ICP Networks celebrate their first birthday in the award winning Lexicon House – the Greenest IT HQ in Britain.
It seems incredible that 12 months has passed already since the UK’s leading IT and networking supply business moved to the new global headquarters in South Manchester.
ICP Networks invested more than £1 million in moving to and creating Lexicon House literally from the ground up.
Key to the creation of this incredible building was the environment and ICP Network’s desire to protect it as much as is humanly possible.
With this in mind ICP Networks MD Matt Archer considered every square inch of his company’s flagship HQ – literally building from the ground up a building that shouts it’s green credentials literally from the roof-tops.
Solar Panels
“I guess the solar panels are a bit of a give away for any visitors who perhaps didn’t know how important the environment is to us as they dominate the roof line,” Mr Archer explained.
“I’m told our solar panel installation is the largest in the North West and the results from the first year have been nothing short of spectacular.
“It also complete pours cold water on the suggestion that solar plans in South Manchester are a waste of time because of the weather. We have produced virtually the same energy returns from our solar panels as we would have had we installed them in the middle of the Sahara Desert. It doesn’t have to be clear, full on sun-light to generate energy.
Sell Surplus
“Inside our first year the solar panels, backed by our other energy saving implements have resulted in generating more than three times the amount of energy we actually require at ICP Networks, allowing us to sell the surplus back to the grid. So that’s no energy bills at all, and even better we receive cheques from our supplier E-on!
“It makes absolute sense, it means we are more than doing our bit towards protecting the environment but it also makes great business sense too!”
ICP Network’s stunning HQ has already earned plenty of plaudits with local authority Cheshire East nominating them for the LABC Building Excellence Awards earlier this year in which they were Regional Finalists.
The Guardian newspaper featured our award winning building and now energy giants E-On have approached ICP Networks for permission to use them as part of a national campaign to inspire other businesses with ways of saving money and protecting the environment.
