Back from Interop and getting back in to the swing of things.
Oh No! Not more Cisco CP-7912g’s . Yep, more used / refurbished CP-7912G’s is what the guys in the warehouse said when the takeout from the University arrived at our warehouse. Over the last few weeks and months we have been ploughing our way through the over 1,000 units we received. IP Phones, especially refurbished Cisco IP Phones are modest in price, compared to the alternatives. Yet, they are the most labour intense product to refurbish. We have posted a quick video, although it is destined not to win a documentary Oscar this year, it shows them off to very good effect. They look great after being throughly cleaned, and shrink wrapped, before adding new cables, and boxing up. Here is a link to a YouTube showing a stunning model, if IP phones can be stunning? Perhaps not, eh?
They are discontinued as a product from Cisco, although they have a huge installation base, the Cisco product sheet and description are here. If companies such as British Airways who deploy these throughout Heathrow need spares, considering refurbished models is a great way to save time and expense ( as opposed to a new model / and or design architecture ) .
Until the next post,
Matt
