ICP Networks received an early Christmas present after being honoured with the ISO14001.
The ISO14001 award is a globally recognised environmental management standard achieved through the work ICP Networks carried out creating their new global headquarters.
Lexicon House is the result of careful thought and planning to ensue the building is as environmentally friendly as possible with huge solar panel installation creating more than three times the amount of energy actually required to run the business.
Triple glazed glass, heat sensors, modern lighting and insulated walls have resulted in an award winning building which costs nothing to run – and actually generates a profit for ICP Networks as they sell excess energy back to the grid.
Delighted
ICP Networks MD Matt Archer, said: “We take the environment, and our impact on it, extremely seriously and achieving our ISO14001:2004 shows that we really do practice what we preach and we are delighted to achieve the standard.
“Our green credentials run the heart of our company, we know that our industry is blamed for the impact it has on the environment and so we feel it is appropriate that we are seen to be leading the way.
“We have always taken our position in this matter very seriously but the move to our new headquarters provided us with the perfect opportunity to create the most eco-friendly business from the ground up, both in terms of the physical build but also in the way we operate internally.
“We have already achieved our ISO 9001: 2008 and this proves that we do not sit on our laurels, we are constantly looking to improve and move forward. It is a very proud moment to realise we are doing the right things.”
Standards
The ISO, or International Organization for Standardization, is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards, based in Geneva, Switzerland.
They were founded in 1947 and have since published more than 19 500 International Standards covering almost all aspects of technology and business with members from 163 countries.
The ISO14001 :2004 is a global recognised standard for the management of the business, and the building in particular.
To achieve the standard ICP Networks have been required to identify and control their environmental impact and constantly seek to improve their environmental performance.
Criteria
ISO14001 :2004 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system, mapping out a framework that allows a company to establish effective environmental management systems.
It provides assurance to management, employees, stakeholders and clients that ICP Network’s environmental impact is being measured and improved.
The ISO14001 : 2004 helps to reduce the cost of waste management, saves energy consumption and materials, lowers distributions costs and improves the corporate image amongst regulators, customers and the public.
