ICP Networks are ‘A’ rated when it comes to energy excellence – and that’s official!
The South Manchester based IT and Networking specialists have been officially recognised by the Government for their work in improving the energy efficiency of their global headquarters.
ICP Networks purchased a 40-year-old former warehouse and transformed it into the ‘Greenest IT HQ’ in Britain with a complete transformation, creating a stunning global headquarters from the ground up.
Stunning
Double insulated walls, energy efficient lighting, modern lighting and heating sensors, triple glazed glass and the largest solar panel installation in the North West were all key features of the stunning £1 million transformation.
And the hard work has been rewarded with the a building so sustainable it produces more than 200% of the energy actually required to operate the building and the business.
ICP Networks MD Matt Archer, said: “This latest award for our sustainable building underlines the improvement of an existing building and our companies 100% commitment to sustainability and Green IT.
“When we set out to create Lexicon House we did it for the right reasons, namely we care about the environment and our impact on it yet we probably didn’t envisage the external recognition we would receive for our work.
“Lots of business may say they care but then fail to back up their words but ICP Networks has gone the extra mile and to have that work recognised is an amazing feeling.
Standards
“The rules and regulations around a building’s sustainability are pretty tough and the inspection is carried out by an independent Government inspector whois quite rightly extremely strict. The standards are sky high.
“When we purchased this building, which was a 40-year-old warehouse it was rated as a ‘C’ in terms of its energy efficiency. The work we have carried out has improved the building by a staggering 48 points and the ‘A’ standard which is a true honour.
“It has not been easy, it has not be without significant cost but we take our responsibilities seriously and from a practical point of view we clearly recognise that the more energy efficient we are, the greater savings we will make long term.”
MP David Rutley officially opened Lexicon House in the summer of 2013 and was hugely impressed with the work carried out with regard to sustainability and energy efficiency.
He has hailed ICP Networks as an example to other businesses and what can be achieved with clear, thoughtful planning and the rewards are there for all to see.
